What are the four stages?
Free site survey
We visit, measure up, look at access and the condition of what’s there, and talk through options and budget with you.
Written quote
You get a written quote with a fixed price for the agreed specification, what’s included, the payment stages and a likely start window.
Plan and prepare
We sort drawings, approvals and materials, agree dates with you and explain what to expect each week before work starts.
Build and hand over
The work is carried out, checked and cleared away. We walk round it with you and pass on certificates and product details.
What happens at the free site survey?
A site survey is a visit to your home to measure up and see the job in person. We look at access, the condition of what’s there, drainage, structure and anything that could affect the price, and we talk through options, finishes and budget. There is no charge and no obligation.
What’s in the written quote?
The quote sets out the scope of work, the specification, the fixed price for that specification, what’s excluded, the payment stages, a likely start window and how long the work should take. If drawings, structural calculations or applications are needed, the quote says who arranges them and what they cost.
Who sorts planning permission and building control?
We check what applies to your address before quoting. Where planning permission, a Lawful Development or Lawfulness certificate, Building Regulations approval or (in Scotland) a building warrant is needed, we can arrange the drawings and applications as part of the job. Rules differ between England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland; our planning guide explains the differences.
Can I stay at home while the work is done?
Usually, yes. Most people stay at home during window, roofing, outdoor and loft work. Kitchen, bathroom and whole-house work can mean a few days without a kitchen or bathroom, and we plan the order of work to keep that as short as possible. Floors and furniture are protected and the site is cleared at the end of each day.
What if something changes during the job?
Changes happen, for example when an old wall turns out to need more repair than expected or you decide on a different finish. Any change, and its effect on price and time, is agreed in writing before the work is done.
What do I get at handover?
We walk round the finished work with you, agree any snagging, and pass on certificates (such as building control completion, electrical certificates and window registration where they apply) along with product details and care instructions.
